Crisis-intervention

In our world full of tension, we increasingly feel that we live our everyday lives in such heightened
readiness that it gradually overwhelms us, since we do not have the appropriate quantity and quality of coping methods. We face more and more complex challenges to which our nervous system cannot adapt so quickly, stress, crisis, and finally traumas creep into our lives.
Every situation that throws our organism out of balance triggers a stress reaction, when our brain signals that what is happening is different from the usual, the predictable. We call crisis any situations in which our previously known coping methods are not sufficient to solve it, we experience vulnerability, uncertainty, and helplessness. However, a crisis is a turning point too that definitely drives us to make a change and also carries the possibility of a positive outcome and renewal.

Crisis-intervention helps us to get rid of the paralyzing tension in an emotionally stressful situation, to look at the problem objectively, to find our inherent coping potentials and inner resources, and to use these to move forward towards a proactive perspective. In crisis-intervention, I often call on our two organic supporters, nature and horses. The mind and body, returning to their original natural state of existence, undergo vegetative nervous system changes that regulate our basic physiological functions, breathing and heart rhythms, and invite us into the state of conscious present, when we can connect not only with nature, but with our own body, too. People who are more closely connected to nature and their related natural selves, cope with crisis situations more easily.
